I love using glass cannisters for toy storage. I use them for crayons, finger puppets, counting bears, small wooden blocks and colored shapes. I like using glass because the craft stuff doesn't fog up the sides and it teaches my daughter to be gentle with her toys. These containers are so beautiful I won't mind having all of her things out in the open at toddler's reach. I may have to steal a few for my kitchen counter. - Stephanie R

I love this. It just seems like such a magical toy to me. The chime continues to play as the ball rolls. - Stephanie S.
"A turn of the elegantly shaped key magically produces one of Mozart's melodies
from inside the solid wooden ball. The 18-note chime plays whether the ball is
rolling or standing still. Manufactured in a village on the edge of the Black Forest,
the hidden chime mechanism is mounted in premium quality wood that has been
fashioned into a perfect sphere. "

Melissa & Doug amaze me again. I've been looking everywhere for a well made, sturdy doll house and I finally found it with old favs Melissa & Doug. This house is similar to the Ryan's Room house, but way more affordable and it comes with everything you need to get started right away. It's also big enough that more than one child can play with the house at one time; which is great if you have more than one kid or you have a little visitor. - Stephanie R

Jolie is so cute in her little beret. The Lizzie Speaks Spanish Doll is also available and a Winner of the Oppenheim Best Toy Award Gold Seal. I can't wait to get the Jolie doll for my daughter. We've been listening to the same French CDs in the car. It will be fun to mix it up. I think we'll try to collect a few dolls from the series. I'd like to be able to introduce her to several languages, this would be an easy way to do it. German, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Hebrew, Italian and Greek dolls are all available. -Stephanie R

This is the best thing I've ever put in my diaper bag. I never leave home without the phone or a set of keys. After my last cell phone filled up with apple juice and goldfish crumbles, it was time to search for a phone just for Lily. This was a great find and she was thrilled. The buttons actually make a real sound when you push them in and there is a button on the side that will record your voice. The keys are real metal and the buttons make the "beep beep" sound just like a car setting the alarm. It also has a tiny light that is a lot of fun for babies. This is just the right easy no-brainer first birthday gift for any child on your list. They're sure to love it. Stephanie R

I may not be entirely prepared to defend the practicality of this set, but Holy Smokes! When was the last time a kids' bowl knocked your socks off? - Stephanie S.
"Rebel is easy for the child to handle. The edge of the plate is concave, and easily catches spilt food, and this form recurs in the handle of both spoon and mug creating a coherent and ergonomic expression. The handle makes it easy for the child to hold the mug stable, and the top is rounded, making it easy to drink, while its broad bottom keeps it stable."

When my brother and I were very little (probably 3 and 5), my mom had us make recordings to send to our grandparents. We told jokes that we had made up, recited our own renditions of our favorite stories and songs and giggled and generally hammed it up. We loved being "on stage". We felt like we were making something important and to our grandparents I'm sure we were. Technology passed up shoe box tape recorders long ago, but I don't think there is a better way out there for kids to make there own simple recordings. The buttons are large and easy to use and kids can immediately hear their own silly nervous voices. It's a fun (and inexpensive) way to spend a rainy afternoon and the tapes will be treasured for years. - Stephanie S.
