When my brother and I were very little (probably 3 and 5), my mom had us make recordings to send to our grandparents. We told jokes that we had made up, recited our own renditions of our favorite stories and songs and giggled and generally hammed it up. We loved being "on stage". We felt like we were making something important and to our grandparents I'm sure we were. Technology passed up shoe box tape recorders long ago, but I don't think there is a better way out there for kids to make there own simple recordings. The buttons are large and easy to use and kids can immediately hear their own silly nervous voices. It's a fun (and inexpensive) way to spend a rainy afternoon and the tapes will be treasured for years. - Stephanie S.
